One Incredible Run

The entire Manitoba Marathon team would like to wish Laurie Penton all our best as he hangs up his running shoes and jogs into retirement.

Laurie has been the leading man of the Manitoba Marathon, our Operations Manager for the past thirty years. His warm, friendly and energetic nature has made him not only an incredible team mate but a pillar within our community with a history of developing outstanding relationships with anyone he crossed paths with.

From pounding posts, cycling various routes for measurement, coordinating our amazing tech team volunteers, organizing the equipment depot race week, to course and stadium setup, the tasks are endless, including pushing his body to the max by going days without sleep. Laurie made things happen and did so with a “pun” in his pocket and a smile on his face.

The Manitoba Marathon is so much more than just a race, it’s about incredible life experiences, creating unforgettable memories and developing friends for life. As Laurie turns this page in his story we know that he takes with him 30 years of incredible memories and forever friendships.

Please join us in celebrating our incredible friend Laurie and his beautiful family, we wish them all the best as they begin this exciting new chapter.

Laurie you will be missed.
